An island that lives its rituals
Every morning in Ubud, small offerings of flowers and rice appear on doorsteps, shrines and dashboards. That daily devotion sets the tone for the whole island: gentle, generous and attentive.
I spent my days between rice terraces and temples, and my evenings at a villa overlooking the jungle. A water purification ceremony at a temple spring was the moment I understood what restorative travel can be.
Bali gives you permission to rest, and then shows you how.
It is ideal for honeymooners, wellness seekers and anyone who wants beauty, warmth and time to breathe.

Things worth knowing
- A sarong and sash are needed to enter temples; many provide them at the gate.
- Dry season runs roughly April to October; the wet season brings short, heavy afternoon rain.
- Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence in March, closes the island, including the airport, for 24 hours.
- Traffic between regions can be slow, so we plan stays to limit long drives.
- Drink bottled or filtered water.
